Print publication for Go West Transit
Go West Transit is a public transportation organization that operates in Macomb, Illinois. My main goal was to improve the readability and aesthetic of Go West’s yearly print publication.
Breaking Down the Process
This animation details the method of constructing one of the bus route maps, with an emphasis on the organization required to efficiently manage all of the elements within the document.
Multi-purpose Design
The center spread, Municipal Route Map, was designed to be a standalone print. The Municipal Routes span the entire city of Macomb, and stop at key locations like the grocery stores, and local hospital.
Layout Optimization
Great care went into the design for the Municipal Route Map. The layout had to work within the whole publication, but also when printed separately and folded twice. The publication opens first along the short edge, and then along the long edge to reveal the map. The layout optimized losing the least amount of information within the creases of the document.
Trifold Map
The first design that I produced for Go West. This trifold map and schedule was made to promote a new and temporary route that ran to Veteran’s Park, where many large events are hosted. This design would serve as the foundation for future maps.
Go West is always looking to provide meaningful transportation options to all Macomb residents, not only for necessities, but also for entertainment and leisure. Access to Veteran’s Park accomplished their mission statement.
